Aba Maison
Biography
Aba Maison has been with Lasa (the UK’s leading voluntary sector ICT champion) since 2001, promoting, developing and then delivering several successful partnership projects between the government and the not for profit charitable sector.
Aba’s previous community work experience outside of ICT (Information and Communications Technology) made her the ideal choice to champion the needs of small advice and advocacy agencies in the development of appropriate Web Standards.
Over the last few years’ Aba has been at the forefront of bringing the Circuit Rider model of ICT support to groups across the UK, having gained central government understanding and then acceptance of the effectiveness of the model.
Aba currently leads the development and delivery of an ICT Knowledgebase and other web based resources designed to build management competencies and to support circuit riders and “accidental techies” across the UK voluntary sector. Empowering cash strapped non profit organisations to use the Web to do more with limited resources is one of her main interests.
Aba believes that communicating in “non-techie” language is key to sector organisations realising the benefits of, and adopting appropriate technology solutions. This is probably why her writing for the knowledgebase, journals such as Computanews, and her many conference presentations are always well received, lively and engaging.
