The material and discussions were useful and thought provoking and a major benefit was networking with our colleagues in neighbouring counties. Thanks to PR for making this happen.

The whole trend of employment is moving towards piecework. The job for life has gone, most employees have a notice period of 1 week/month, limited term contracts are more common because the employment ends with mild regrets and no fuss. Ultimately perhaps labour will go freelance on projects lasting hours or days, fiercely bidding each other down to get the work. Or not, we'll see!

Hi Julie

I'm working on this competency at the moment and I'd suggest reading the How to Cost and Fund ICT guide published by the ICT Hub - it's listed under competency 10. Let me know of you want any help with it, it's quite a long document but well worth the read.

Julie,

That’s an interesting point you made – I suggest you take a look at the resources in module 2 competency 7 financial systems. Please get back to me if you require further help with this.

Do we still see blank faces when we suggest that we couldn't run our sector without technology? Is it because we are all fully aware that this is the case? or is it because we don't think its true?

whatever the answer, technology is still under resourced, under acknowledged, under planned, under managed ......and NOT accepted as an INFRASTRUCTURE issue.....

I am often on my soap box about this - and would like to hear from those who perhaps have more of an insight into WHY we are still looked at so blankly.....am I missing the point?

Strategies for getting around these hurdles are tenfold, cajoling, threatening or hand holding - laying it bare...we aren't liked much as technology=money=complications

I hope this programme will enable us to develop ideas and support so we can help our organisations get the best they can from what is available to them without feeling bamboozled.
